Control Cables can fall out of the Pulley groove! What to do?
Cables that run through pulleys and operate the control surfaces of your aircraft are extremely reliable. However, when the cable becomes slack, usually when it is disconnected or adjusted for maintenance, it can fall off the pulley and force you to manually reset its position on the groove.
What to do when the pulley is in a hard to access location? It might be the case that it will involve a time consuming disassembly operation to gain access to the pulley. Is their an access panel nearby?
The best solution is to install pulley guards on any pulley where this could be a potential problem. These simple devices ensure that the cable will always stay in the groove, even when the cable is slack.
